Camaiore Comes Alive with Magic: The Sawdust Carpets Are Back
In the heart of Camaiore’s historic center, the night between Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22 becomes a unique celebration of art, tradition, and spirituality. It’s time for the highly anticipated Sawdust Carpets, the most magical event of the year, held during the Feast of Corpus Domini.
From 6:00 PM on Saturday until Sunday morning, the town’s central streets — Via Vittorio Emanuele and Via XX Settembre — will be transformed by incredible artworks made entirely of colored sawdust. These ephemeral masterpieces are created by 17 groups of carpet artists, including local associations, scout groups, and community committees, who begin their work in the afternoon and continue throughout the night.
Each carpet tells a story, this year inspired by the theme of the 2025 Jubilee, chosen by the Church of Camaiore. The result is a colorful and symbolic path through stunning images and decorative patterns that never fail to amaze.
After the solemn Sunday Mass, the carpets will be walked over during the traditional religious procession — a powerful and emotional moment that embodies the core of the event: the fleeting beauty of ephemeral art.
